We know there was a time that we used to dream of having more time to ourselves and more weekends than weekdays. Now that it has actually happened, we have no clue what to do with it, right? We also know that you miss going out and hanging around with your friends, but we got to do our part for the betterment of not just us and our loved ones, but also for the entire world. So let’s make the best and most of being at home during this quarantine, more fun. Some suggestions would be:

1. Netflix and Chill

Of course, this would be the first thing on any of our minds right? How long have you been waiting to watch that movie or binge watch a TV series? FOREVER? Well if you never had the time, do it now. Also, if you don’t have Netflix, we suggest you find a good site to download your movies or shows. However, we would recommend you download it all at night and save up your day time Wi-Fi because you’re going to need it in order to survive the next few days.

2. Stay home, stay fit

Missing your gym routine? Or always wanted to workout but never got the chance to? Here’s your opportunity to finally start. It’s time to quit lazy-ing around and turn those flabs into some abs. Plus, sitting at home in one place, snacking is not going to help you with your summer body. Start off small, and find a good workout routine that suits you. There are so many home work out videos on YouTube and apps that can help you with this as well. Maybe even just a few jumping jacks and squats to get you started, but remember to always stretch before and after your workout so you don’t get any muscles pains.

3. Bring out your inner Baker, or at least try

Always wanted to try your luck at baking? Well now’s the best time. Sweet or savoury, you decide. I would suggest starting off with something small and easy, maybe brownies or a chocolate cake. And if you chose savoury, maybe a chicken pie or quiche. The good thing about this is that it’s fun to do! With all the decorating and thinking of creative, fun ways to make it look nice. Plus, think about those Instagram worthy pictures! The best part is that it’s going to be some yummy in your tummy! What more, if you do realize that you’re a good baker, you can take it up professionally too, so that’s a win-win!

4. Get creative

Always wondered if you had a creative side? Or you know, but just didn’t have enough time to polish it up? Go for it now! It could be drawing, doodling, writing essays, short stories, fiction, non-fiction and even poetry. You just have to pick which way you want to get creative and what you find most enjoyable and go for it. Play some funky or calming music, whatever brings out your inner creative side and get started.

5. Meditate

You may be not used to being at home all locked up in your room and can be feeling a little self-isolated and lonely. A good thing to try out would be meditation to help this quarantine period a little easier and peaceful for you. It doesn’t have to be long, maybe just 10 to 15 mins from your day. And if you have no clue how to do it, just watch some beginner YouTube videos like the below.

6. Read a book

From the smell of a new book to turning pages you’re missing out on some really good stuff if you haven’t been reading. It doesn’t really have to be a huge, long book. It could even be a comic book, romance novel or a thriller. Whatever you find interesting. Take a chance and you might actually enjoy it. Also, books are rather calming, so amidst this chaos that might do you good. Also for the ones that have books piled up, time to get cracking now. Just make sure you read under a good white light so that you don’t strain your eyes.

7. Re-decorate your room

If you’re tired of your same old boring room, maybe give it a shot at re-decorating. Of course, get your parents’ permission first though. If you’re a girl you have a choice of re-painting it or drawing on the walls, hanging some fairy lights and even cutting out some shiny stars and pasting it on your ceiling. Also, posters! Added advantage is that you might finally clean out your room and get rid of all that junk that’s been stopping your room from being as nice as it can be.

8. Game night

If you feel like you don’t get to spend much time with your family, make sure you do it now. They’re the ones closest to us and they’re also the ones we rarely spend time with. So get all your board and card games out and plan a game night. You can even divide up into teams if you have a big family. From scrabble, UNO, monopoly, snakes and ladders, jenga to charades where you don’t really need anything but a piece of paper and pen. Get creative and spend some quality family time while you can.

So there you go. A few fun, crazy new things to try while you’re at home. We would suggest you make a quarantine bucket list or something and try all the above, add more or even make a completely new list and try to tick it all off before you get busy again.
