With choices from 5 star hotels to cozy little cafés serving bakes to street food, it can be tough to choose a place where you can mix good food with business. Here are a few interesting food spots to try out when you want to have best of both worlds

Shangri La Colombo – Sapphyr Lounge

If you want trendy, the Saphyr Lounge is the rage in Colombo. It offers seating both indoors and outdoors and live jazz music on most days and an ideal venue if you want to communicate business and class. Prior booking allows for more space, but you can’t exactly conduct an old fashioned white board meeting, for which they have separate space if necessary, but you can have a decent meeting with fine food ranging from appetizers and mini meals. If you’re lucky you even get free cookies with your tea. It’s best to make a prior reservation so you don’t miss out on space and as it tends to be full over the weekends.


Park Street Mews

Take a stroll down the brightly lit, rustic cobblestone path and you’ll have a variety of restaurants and pubs to choose from. It’s dining heaven for those who cant figure what to choose from as it ranges from tapas, Italian to coffee or you could simply discuss business over a drink or dessert. Park Street offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with quite a pleasant atmosphere during the evenings, after work hours and weekends tends to get slightly crowded, so an early reservation is a good idea. Don’t forget to get a private spot, as you really don’t want interruptions while trying to close a deal.


Coffee & Company

With an calm and serene atmosphere, Coffee & Company nails it with both food and design, but more importantly with beverage. Giving you the option of spacious outdoor seating or comfortable air conditioned indoor seating, this quaint little coffee shop has such an interesting menu, we guarantee you’ll win brownie points just for the choice of venue. Serving up starters to mains to a great cup of coffee, juices and even decadent desserts, you can be guaranteed a spot with no disturbance or distractions. Even though it is situated in the heart of Colombo, Coffee & Company is a quiet location with ample parking and the amiable staff go out of their way to create a homely environment. Café ambience, unique decor and an explosive menu. If you’re looking for a casual yet upscale venue to have a meeting then this is it. You can either opt for milkshakes, cake shakes, amazing range of cakes or even opt for an all day breakfast. The cafe also serves an exquisite high tea for two and has an array of artisan dishes on its’ menu. As with all popular cafes in Colombo, it is best to book ahead. Bakes by Bella offers a semi-outdoor option, indoor couches and coffee tables and more formal seating arrangements, any requests will be accommodated by the pleasant and helpful staff who go out of their way to ensure you have an unique foodie adventure


KIKU Colombo

One of the hottest cafes in Colombo, KIKU gives you the natural good and wholesome cafe experience. From a clean minimalistic interior which gives you zen vibes to fen shui furniture and tableware, KIKU manages to make simple classy. Why we’ve put KIKU on this list is not only because of the atmosphere they provide but also for the fantastic menu. From naturally flavoured beverages, fusion food and giving classic comfort food a pleasantly surprising makeover and the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. A tip for you : getting some of their famous doughnuts for the person you’re meeting can be a complete deal maker, but do remember the acclaimed doughnuts are only served on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
